Toddler’s neck stuck in moonroof while mom is working DoorDash, Texas police say
A mother left her toddlers alone in her vehicle, then her 3-year-old son got injured when he closed the sunroof on himself, Texas authorities say.
On March 26, Belton police responded to a restaurant after getting reports of an injured child, according to a police news release.
When they arrived, they found 24-year-old Angela Celeste Moreno’s 3-year-old child unconscious and not breathing, police said.
Moreno left her 3-year-old son and 1-year-old son in the car while she picked up a DoorDash order before delivering it, according to police.
When she came back to the car, she found that her older son had climbed through the sunroof and “ accidentally shut it on himself with the button on the ceiling of the car,” authorities said.
He was unable to reopen it, and it was constricting his neck and breathing, according to police.
Officers said the boy was sent to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, and he survived.
Moreno was arrested on an injury to a child charge and was booked into the Bell County Jail, police said.
Belton is about a 60-mile drive northeast of Austin.
