11-year-old girl escapes accused kidnapper’s truck and runs home, Oregon officials say
An 11-year-old managed to escape an accused kidnapper’s pickup truck and ran home, Oregon officials said.
On Nov. 25, the girl’s mom called Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office deputies and told them her daughter had been picked up at their apartment complex by a stranger in a red truck, according to a Facebook post by the department.
Officers later spoke to the girl who told them she had been walking around the complex when the man, later identified as Felipe Hernandez Martinez, 47, grabbed her and drove her a short distance, deputies said.
The girl managed to escape when Martinez stopped the truck near some houses, deputies said.
She ran all the way home and her mom called 911, the post said.
Investigators found the man and his Ford F-150 nearby and arrested him. Martinez, of Milwaukie, is being held on a $250,000 bail for charges including kidnapping and harassment, officials said.
The investigation remains ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call 503-723-4949, deputies said.
Clackamas County is located just southeast of Portland.
