A wedding photographer is accused of secretly filming a bride as she was partially naked in her bridal suite, Minnesota authorities say.

Now, the 30-year-old photographer is charged with privacy interference following the 2020 incident at a wedding venue in Albert Lea, court records show.

It’s unclear if the photographer, Mitchell Ringness of MR. Photography, has been arrested.

The investigation began in April 2024 when police said a video was uncovered showing the bride in a state of undress. The video was on a thumb drive sent to police by the significant other of Ringness, according to police.

“(The video contained) a depiction of a dressing room for a bride, taken from a very low angle,” police said in a statement of probable cause. “The video recording includes a depiction of the victim in her underwear and with her breasts exposed to the camera.”

Authorities went to the wedding venue and recognized the bridal suite shown in the video, police said. They also found a small table that appears to be where the video was taken.

When police questioned the bride, she said she “had no idea about the hidden camera,” according to court documents.

“Victim confirmed that she did not instruct, pay, give permission or contact with defendant to do videography or boudoir photography,” police said.

Chad and Jayne Iverson, who own the Barn at Chapeau Shores wedding venue, told KAAL they were “shocked” by the allegations. The venue owners had not met Ringness prior to the 2020 incident.

“The safety of the wedding couple and all guests is vitally important to us, so hearing this news has been very upsetting. Anyone affected by this individual has our deepest sympathy,” the Iversons said in a statement to KMSP.

Albert Lea is abut a 100-mile drive south from Minneapolis.
