Nosy moose seen peeking through windows in Colorado neighborhood. See officers lift it
A nosy moose was spotted peering through windows and resting in a yard while meandering through a Colorado neighborhood, funny photos and video show.
The large animal was quite out of place, so officers decided to relocate him — and it took several of them to do so.
“How do you move a 600lb moose? We found out because it took 8 people to move this one,” Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said on X, formerly known as Twitter.
A video shows wildlife officers and animal control officers and deputies latching tightly to a tarp they’d placed under the sedated moose and hoisting it up, not without difficulty. It takes the team two tries to lift the animal — which was actually small for a moose.
Someone comments that he looks like he’s just a baby in the video.
“This is not something you see every day,” someone else says.
The team loads the moose into a trailer to take him back home to the wild.
Officials didn’t say how the moose ended up wandering through the neighborhood, far away from the wilderness and mountains where they usually live.
Moose sometimes do end up in crowded towns or neighborhoods.
In September, a 900-pound moose roamed into downtown Sante Fe, New Mexico, McClatchy News previously reported. It took almost a dozen officers to lift it.
