Dog bolts from home after car crashes into it. Then owners hear whining coming from bog
Entangled in sticker vines, Franko the Miniature Australian Shepherd sat trapped in a Washington bog.
The day prior, a car crashed into his home, the Washington State Animal Response Team said in a June 5 Facebook post.
“Franko accidentally got out and ran off” when the driver was being rescued from the car, rescuers said.
As his owners searched for him the following day, they “heard barking and whimpering” coming from a bog.
Franko, though, was nowhere in sight; he was trapped in a bog 50 feet down an embankment.
Unable to reach him, rescuers said his owners called the nonprofit for help.
“After donning hip length boots, we used backboards and a machete to work our way through the heavy brush, water, and mud,” rescuers said.
As rescuers approached, they found “Franko sitting on a large fallen log.”
He was trapped.
Franko’s hind end and legs were entangled with sticker vines, rescuers said.
Rescuers said they freed him by removing the vines and carried him “out of the bog and back to his owner where he was happily reunited.”
