Gardener finds a four-leaf clover and decides to try luck at lottery. It paid off big
A man in Maryland took home a big lottery prize with an instant ticket and credits the win to a four-leaf clover he found, officials said.
The lucky lottery player and golf lover from Calvert County won $50,000 with a $10 Money Bag Multiplier instant ticket in Lusby, according to a July 31 news release by the Maryland Lottery.
“You never expect anything like that,” he told officials.
The man scratched the ticket to see 23, one of the winning numbers, with $50,000 underneath.
He told officials a four-leaf clover he found in his garden back in June played a role in his winning.
The man kept the clover in his wallet since finding it and has since been on a “winning streak,” the release said.
He’s since won $50 multiple times and $200 with scratch-off tickets, lottery officials said.
Although this isn’t his first win, it’s the biggest prize so far.
The man didn’t know what to do after learning about his win, so he went to his wife to confirm the news.
“I said to her, ‘Do you see what I see?’” he told lottery officials.
He plans to pay bills with the money and is going to buy another lottery ticket in hopes that his lucky streak continues, officials said.
Four unclaimed Money Bag Multiplier prizes of $100,000 and five of $50,000 remain, the release said.
Lusby is about 80 miles south of Baltimore.
