Disneyland Facebook and Instagram pages hacked with ‘reprehensible content,’ it says
Some of Disneyland Resort’s social media accounts were hacked and displayed offensive posts for several hours on July 7, according to media reports.
The hack was a series of four posts and two stories that included foul and racist language posted to the Anaheim resort’s social media, according to Newsweek.
A Disneyland official confirmed the hack involved both its Instagram and Facebook accounts in an emailed statement to McClatchy News, adding that it “worked quickly to remove the reprehensible content, secure our accounts, and our security teams are conducting an investigation.”
The posts were taken down “shortly before 8 a.m. on Thursday,” according to KTVB.
The first post was made at around 4 a.m. with a caption speaking of a “super hacker that is here to bring revenge upon Disneyland,” Newsweek reported.
All posts featured explicit, racist language, KTVB reported, and were signed by “David Do.”
The resort’s Instagram account has a following of 8.4 million, while its Facebook page has nearly 17 million. The accounts regularly feature photos of the park’s attractions, as well as photos of guests.
