Man hit and killed while crossing street to pick a flower, California cops say
A man crossing an Encinitas street to pick a flower died after being hit by an oncoming vehicle, California sheriff’s officials reported.
The crash took place at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 8, on Piraeus Street near Normandy Road, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.
A passenger got out of a stopped vehicle and crossed the street to pick a flower, the release said. An oncoming vehicle hit the man as he returned across the street.
He suffered serious injuries and later died at a hospital, sheriff’s officials said.
The other driver was not hurt. The accident remains under investigation, but drugs or alcohol are not believed to be involved.
