Man shoots passer-by who told him to stop beating dog, California police say
A man seen beating a dog on a Los Angeles apartment balcony shot a passer-by who yelled at him to let go of the animal, California police reported.
Two people walking in the 700 block of North La Brea Avenue spotted the man beating a dog about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, Los Angeles police said in a news release.
One yelled at the man to “let go of the dog,” police said. The man shouted back, then pulled out a firearm and shot one of the passers-by.
The onlooker was taken to a hospital in stable condition, police said. The suspected shooter, whom officers believe was visiting the apartment complex, ran away and remains on the loose.
