A 58-year-old woman who was missing for two weeks was found dead in a state park, a sheriff’s office in Georgia said.

Deputies spotted Kara Hillen’s car at Fort McAllister State Park on Nov. 24 after she was reported missing a day earlier, the Bryan County Sheriff’s Office said on Facebook.

She was last seen near Fort McAllister Road in Richmond Hill on Nov. 21, according to deputies.

Hillen’s body was found at Fort McAllister State Park on Dec. 7 after multiple search teams scoured the area, the sheriff’s office said.

Surveillance footage showed Hillen drive into the park and park her car, the Bryan County Sheriff’s Office told McClatchy News. But cameras weren’t able to capture what happened once the car was parked the sheriff’s office said.

She regularly went on the park trails, according to deputies.

An autopsy for Hillen has been scheduled to determine the cause of death, the sheriff’s office said.

“This tragic event has brought forth additional resources to the Bryan County Sheriff’s Office and we are eternally grateful so many reached out to offer their services,” deputies said on Facebook. “Our department learned a lot during this time and plan on changing some of our procedures in event of possible similar future occurrences.”
