A 34-year-old man in a Washington motel room dialed 911, hanging several times, and when deputies arrived he attacked them, the sheriff’s office said.

Deputies responded to an Everett motel around 7:15 a.m. on Nov. 2, the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post.

A man was yelling from within his room that someone inside needed to go to the hospital, deputies said.

But no one else was inside the room.

When deputies entered the room, he “refused commands” and attacked them, punching one in the head and pulling two deputies down a concrete staircase, the Facebook post said.

A third deputy tried to restrain the man who then “clamped down on the deputy’s hand with immense strength” as the deputytried to put the suspect’s arm behind his back, the post said.

All of the deputies were taken to a hospital where they were treated for their injuries, officials said.

The man was booked into the Snohomish County Jail and faces charges of third-degree assault on law enforcement officers, first-degree criminal trespass and resisting arrest.
