A California woman was charged with hosting parties for teenagers where she provided alcohol and encouraged sex acts, according to the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office.

The 47-year-old allegedly bought alcohol and provided condoms to the teens at the parties, and discouraged them from telling their parents about the events or calling emergency services for help when attendees passed out or vomited from intoxication, the statement of facts said.

Many of the children at the parties were as young as 14 or 15 years old.

The woman, who now lives in Eagle, Idaho, faces 39 criminal counts, including felony child abuse, sexual assault and providing alcohol to minors. She is being extradited from Idaho and will be arraigned at a later date, CBS SF reported.

“What I’m seeing here is only the tip of this investigation,” legal analyst and former prosecutor Steven Clark told CBS SF. “I think you could see even more serious charges being put on (her) as this case progresses, particularly, if minors were being sexually assaulted.”

The woman has a son who turned 15 last October, and she began hosting the events starting the summer before his birthday, the statement of facts said. Her son and his friends were in attendance at the events, where the woman allegedly provided the teenagers with alcohol and let them drink to the point that they couldn’t stand, were vomiting or were unconscious.

When the teens were heavily intoxicated, the woman encouraged them to engage in sex acts with each other, facilitated sexual encounters, and watched some of the sex acts herself, the statement of facts said.

She also allegedly contacted teenagers over Snapchat or text to invite them to drink at her home in the middle of the night, a statement from the district attorney’s office said.

In one instance, the woman allegedly watched and laughed as a drunk teen sexually assaulted a girl. In another case, she allegedly brought a drunk boy into a bedroom where an intoxicated 14-year-old girl was lying on the bed. She had previously encouraged the two children to perform sex acts with each other, but the girl repeatedly said no.

After the girl was assaulted, she asked the woman why she failed to intervene, saying she “knew what he was going to do,” the statement said.

In addition to extreme intoxication and sexual assault, attendees reported other injuries to the district attorney’s office during its investigation. At one event, an intoxicated girl broke her right pinkie and required surgery. In another case, a boy sustained a concussion.

And in one instance, the woman allowed an unlicensed minor to drive her SUV in the parking lot of their high school while two intoxicated boys hung onto the back of the vehicle. One of the boys lost his grip, fell off the SUV and passed out for 20-30 seconds, the statement of facts said.

The woman frequently told the children not to tell their parents about the parties, saying that she could go to jail if they did.

Most of the parties were held at the woman’s Los Gatos home, where she attempted to hide the parties from her husband, CBS SF reported. At least two parties were held at residences in Lake Tahoe and Santa Cruz.

News of the woman’s actions only became more publicized when parents caught wind of what was going on and went to the Los Gatos High School administration, CBS SF reported.

“It took a lot of brave children to come forward and to untangle this deeply disturbing case,” District Attorney Jeff Rosen said in a statement. “As a parent, I’m shocked. As the DA, I’m determined to hold those adults who endanger children fully accountable to the law and our community.”
