Road repairs to Robert Edge Parkway extended to October
Roadwork repairs to Robert Robert Edge Parkway in North Myrtle Beach will go on longer than originally expected due to additional work needed and inclement weather, officials said.
The westbound lane will remain closed until Sept. 30, and the eastbound lane will be closed until Oct. 3, according to a release from the South Carolina Department of Transportation.
Repair work is happening at the bridge approach slab on the west side of the Intracoastal Waterway, which is the transition between the roadway and J. Bryan Floyd Bridge that spans the waterway, according to the release.
Roadwork repairs include: repairing the approach slabs, replacing the damaged roadway concrete, replacing and upgrading the expansion joint seals, and replacing the damaged slope protection, officials said.
Motorists are advised to use posted detours, including S.C. 31 (Carolina Bays Parkway), S.C. 9 and U.S. 17, according to SCDOT authorities.
