Conway is closing several downtown roads to drivers. Here’s when and why
As Conway prepares to celebrate the United States’ independence with its annual Riverfest, several key downtown streets will be closed Friday, June 26 and Saturday, June 27 to make way for the festivities.
Three Conway streets will be closed starting at 5 p.m. on Friday and will remain closed until the end of the Conway Riverfest fireworks show on Saturday, which is set to begin at 9:30 p.m.
Elm Street will be closed from 2nd Avenue, where the Elm Street Stage with afternoon entertainment is located, to the Conway Marina.
A segment of Marina Drive near the intersection of Marina Drive and Elm Street will be closed, with the closed section starting near the stage for Riverfest’s evening entertainment.
Part of Laurel Street, near its intersection with Elm Street and the railroad tracks, will also be closed. Residents of the nearby condominiums will still have access.
The Conway boat ramp at the marina will be closed during Riverfest.
Riverfest kicks off at 10 a.m. on Saturday with the Paddle Battle River Races, followed by a day of friendly competition, live music and family fun.
