Drivers seeing major traffic delays along Highway 90; urged to seek alternate route
Drivers along Highway 90 are expected to see significant traffic delays Monday afternoon and are being advised to consider alternate routes if possible.
Santee Cooper is transporting heavy equipment along Highway 90 to International Drive and then will continue eastbound toward the beach, according to a Facebook post from Horry County Police.
Traffic congestion and intermittent stoppages are expected along the route because of the oversized load, the post said.
Motorists should allow for extra travel time or consider a different route, the post said.
Areas expected to be most impacted include Highway 90 and beach-bound lanes of International Drive.
It is unclear how long the traffic delays will be.
