UPDATE: Gas line secured after crash on N Kings Highway, 2 sent to hospital
Horry County Fire Rescue responded to a crash on North Kings Highway early Monday morning that caused a gas leak and blocked all lanes of traffic, sending two people to the hospital.
A two-vehicle crash on the 9700 block of North Kings Highway caused a commercial building to be struck. Utility equipment was damaged causing a gas leak, according to a Facebook post.
Paul Fischer with Dominion Energy said the gas line was secured just before 8 a.m. The road fully reopened to traffic by 1:45 p.m., according to an update from HCFR.
HCFR was dispatched at 5:20 a.m. to help mitigate the leak, and utility crews worked to repair the damaged equipment.
Two people were transported to the hospital to be evaluated for possible injuries. South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
