Person run over by car after golf cart accident in Surfside Beach. Here’s what we know
A person in Surfside Beach was hospitalized after they fell off a golf cart and got hit by a car, said Surfside Beach Police Chief Kenny Davis.
On Monday, a golf cart was rear-ended by a car while driving in Surfside Beach. The accident caused a person who was riding on the back of the cart to fall off. After falling off, the car then hit the person, injuring them, Davis said.
It appears the accident happened near the Surfside Beach Pier, according to social media posts. Additional details of the accident were not available.
The injured person was taken to the hospital by ambulance.
Golf carts are allowed on secondary highways and roads in Surfside Beach with a speed limit of 35 mph or less, according to the city. The person driving must have a driver’s license and the cart can only be used during day-time hours.
The transportation mode is popular across the Myrtle Beach area, especially among communities located near the beach or in neighborhoods with amenities.
