Update: Pedestrian hit and killed while lying on road in North Myrtle Beach area

A car hit and killed a pedestrian in the Longs area early Sunday, said Sgt. Tyler Tidwell with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Kyle Kennon, 30, was lying on Hemingway Road near Little Cedar Drive, when a 2023 Dodge Challenger headed south hit him, said Horry County Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard. The crash occurred around 4:45 a.m. on Oct. 6.

The Loris man was brought to the Grand Strand Medical Center where he died of blunt force injuries around 8:30 a.m., according to Willard.

It is unclear why Kennon was in the roadway.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
