Parents headed to Kingston Elementary School from the Conway area need to prepare themselves for a miles long detour in the morning.

The detour will last more than a month, according to the South Carolina Department of Transportation.

A bridge replacement in between Conway and Loris will result in a miles long detour, impacting students and family at Kingston Elementary School, 4580 S-472.

The intersection of S-471 and S-472 will close starting on Sept. 16 as crews work on replacing the S-472 bridge. The closure is expected to last through October.

People will have to use S.C. 905 and connect to the highway from S.C. 66 or S.C. 19.
