Horry County Fire Rescue responded to a medical emergency which caused all lanes of S.C. 22 crossing the Intracoastal Waterway to close.

All lanes of this Myrtle Beach area highway have been shut down for a medical issue for several hours, according to Horry County Fire Rescue.

S.C. 22 going over the Intracoastal Waterway was completely closed off, beginning Thursday morning. It’s advised people avoid the S.C. 22 and Kings Highway area while the situation is ongoing.

The bridge reopened at 12:35 p.m. after the issue had been resolved, Horry County Fire Rescue posted on Facebook.

Boat traffic was also closed along the Intracoastal Waterway near the S.C. 22 bridge.

Horry County Fire Rescue was dispatched at 10:30 a.m.
