Reserve your parking spot in Myrtle Beach area. A new service that you should know about
Visiting Myrtle Beach or Huntington Beach State Parks may require more planning starting on May 16.
South Carolina State Parks will set aside 20% of parking spots at the two state parks for people to reserve for $5, according to its website. This is on top of the price of a day pass or park passport. There will be 146 reserved spaces in Myrtle Beach and 89 reserved spaces at Huntington Beach.
This change is being made, “to provide better customer service.”
Visitors can reserve a parking spot up beginning a month ahead of time and no sooner than three days prior. For example, someone visiting on June 30 can reserve their spot between May 30 and June 27.
Spots will be held from 6 a.m. to noon the day of the reservation. After noon, all parking spaces become first-come-first-serve. Buses, RVs and trailers will not be allowed in reserved parking.
The reservations are nontransferable and can be canceled for a refund up to four days in advance. This will be in effect seven days a week from May 16 to Sept. 2.
