North Myrtle Beach motorists can expect traffic delays. What roads to avoid or closed
North Myrtle Beach motorists can expect traffic delays Saturday as several roads will be closed for the ShamRock-n-Run Saturday in the city.
The half marathon, 10K and 5K will begin at 7 a.m. There will be more than 1,000 runners participating in the race.
Here’s what roads will be closed or reduced to one lane:
- 3 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.: Main Street will be closed between Hillside and Ocean Boulevard.
- 7 a.m.: Ocean Boulevard will be down to one lane southbound from 20th Avenue North to Main Street all morning with runners utilizing one lane.
- 7 to 7:15 a.m.: Runners on Ocean Boulevard will be corralled into one lane as the race progresses from Main Street down to 14th Avenue South.
- 7 to 8:30 a.m.: Vehicles are asked to avoid or drive with extreme caution in the area of south of Main Street as runners will be on the roads. Officers and volunteers will have cones on the roads.
- 7:10 to 10:30 a.m.: Runners will be north of Main Street on 2nd Avenue North, Hillside, and several back roads. Vehicles are asked to avoid this area during this time or drive with extreme caution.
