The Horry County Police Department has reopened Morgan Road near Highway 701 North after officials managed to round up most of a group of roaming cows that were causing a safety hazard.

Police said all but one cow has been caught and are urging drivers to use caution in the area.

The police department posted on its Facebook page early Saturday morning that HCPD Environmental Services and Horry County Animal Care Center were working with police to catch the cows that were causing a road safety hazard. The search began Friday and continued into Saturday.

The updated Facebook post by the Horry County Police Department said, “It was a long day of searching, herding, roping, trailering, and transporting the two cows we did catch.”

Police said even with using a thermal drone search by the Horry County Fire Rescue, the final cow couldn’t be found.

The search will continue Sunday, the post said.
