Both lanes of U.S. 17 Bypass in Myrtle Beach reopened
All lanes of U.S. 17 Bypass near the S.C. 544 interchange reopened after crews cleaned up debris in the roadway and fixed a traffic light defect, according to the S.C. Department of Transportation.
According to a witness, a semi-truck hit a lightpole, which caused traffic lights on the northbound and southbound sides of the highway to fall down.
The lanes reopened around 3:30 p.m. Drivers were asked to use Coventry Boulevard to get around the issue.
Traffic was blocked from Glenns Bay Road to S.C. 544 heading north and from Farrow Parkway to S.C. 544 heading south.
