Horry County Schools is touting some major accomplishments with the recent release of the 2025 statewide report cards.

HCS Scholars Academy High School earned the highest score of any school in South Carolina with a 99.7 out of a possible 100 points, according to a release from the school district. The academy was rated the top high school in the state last year before receiving the top spot regardless of grade level this year.

The district also posted an on-time graduation rate in 2025 of 89.6%, which is its highest rate since at least 2018, when the current accountability system was put in place. That rate rose from 86.3% in 2024 and outpaced the statewide average of 86.7%, the release states.

Among the HCS 2025 graduates, 82.5% were identified as collegiate- or career-ready, based on the state’s scoring system. That’s an increase from 77.6% of the district’s 2024 graduating class.

Current HCS seniors also outpaced the statewide SAT average of 1009 with a composite score of 1033, the release shows.

Overall, the state report cards show 38 of 57 schools within HCS were rated as excellent or good, based on the 100-point scoring system. Only 47.6% of schools statewide received excellent or good grades, according to the release.
