Horry students, staff no longer required to wear masks on school buses
Students and staff at Horry County Schools will no longer be required to wear masks on school buses, officials said.
The South Carolina Department of Education made the change following new guidance for mask wearing on school buses and vans from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, according to a Saturday press release.
The CDC’s updated guidance does not call for public or private schools to require masks when transporting students and staff.
Masks have been federally required on school buses since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. But Horry County Schools hasn’t required students to wear masks in classes since the 2020-21 school year.
The change is effective immediately.
