Man arrested in connection with vandalism at Myrtle Beach liquor store

Police arrested a man and charged him with property damage after authorities said he broke a glass door at a Myrtle Beach liquor store early Saturday morning.

Officers were called in reference to vandalism when a security alarm went off about 3 a.m. at a liquor store at 2850 North Kings Highway. They arrested Gregory Lewis Bass, 45, who was on the scene when they arrived, in connection with the incident, according to a police report.

Police said they saw Bass standing outside the store next to a red truck and requested he put his hands up. Bass complied with their commands and was taken into custody without incident.

Authorities said they saw a piece of cider block near the broken glass door. Police watched security footage of the incident with a 49-year-old store manger and saw a man matching Bass’ description outside the store with the piece of cider block in hand.

Officers took Bass to the Myrtle Beach Jail where he was charged with malicious injury to a structure, public intoxication, and giving false information to law enforcement, in addition to being served a bench warrant connected with a prior incident.

No further details were available.
