Man told Myrtle Beach police he ate drugs during traffic stop
A man told Myrtle Beach police he ate the marijuana he had on him when he was pulled over for a traffic stop, according to a police report.
Officers stopped Anthony Louis Strickland, 44, about 5 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Mr. Joe White Avenue and Robert Grissom after police said he made an unlawful turn.
Authorities said there was a “very strong odor of marijuana” coming from the car when they approached it, according to the report.
Police said they asked Strickland if he had any marijuana, and officers said Strickland told them that he had a small joint, but he ate it when they stopped him.
Authorities did not find drugs in Strickland’s car, but said marijuana did fall out of his pants legs when he was personally searched by officers.
Strickland was arrested and charged with simple possession of marijuana and taken to the Myrtle Beach Jail.
