Woman charged with assault after throwing mucus on Myrtle Beach hotel security guard
A woman was charged with third-degree assault and battery after she blew her nose in her hand and threw mucous on a hotel security guard, according to a police report.
Police were called about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday to a hotel at 2001 S. Ocean Blvd., after Jane Derick, 54, a hotel guest, showed up drunk in the lobby and begin yelling at guests and the front desk clerk, officers said.
A 34-year-old male security guard told police Derick was harassing people in the lobby and tried to reach over the counter and pick up the computer monitor.
The victim escorted Derick up to her room, but she did not have her key, so he took her back downstairs where she continued to yell at other guests, according to the report.
The victim told police that Derick blew her nose in her hand then threw mucus on him, and he insisted that the incident be noted in the police report, police said.
Derick was taken into custody at the hotel. The victim later came to the police department and filled a report for simple assault, and Derick was then formally charged.
