Myrtle Beach police charge man with drug possession after illegal u-turn

Myrtle Beach police arrested a man and charged him with driving under suspension and simple possession of marijuana after the man was seen making an illegal u-turn, according to a police report.

Officers saw John Gregory Jones, 38, make a u-turn in a posted no u-turn area about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday near 29th Avenue and Robert Grissom Parkway. Jones was heading eastbound on 29th Avenue when he did a u-turn driving up into the grass, police said.

He was stopped by officers who determined that he was driving under a suspended license. The reason for the suspension was not listed in the report. Jones was placed under arrest and taken to the Myrtle Beach Police Department where police found a bag of marijuana in his right sock during a routine arrest search, according to the report.

Jones told officers he was a disabled veteran.
