Woman runs after shoplifting from Myrtle Beach Walgreens

Myrtle Beach police arrested a woman and charged her with shoplifting after she took Nair body cream and ran from a Walgreens store, police said.

Officers said they were called about 6 p.m. Wednesday to Walgreens at 300 S. Kings Highway, where store employees reported the incident.

Lacey Brooke Goldsmith, 29, was arrested after police found her on Ocean Boulevard where she ran from the Walgreens store after taking a bottle of Nair spa clay body cream, according to a police report.

A store employee said Goldsmith ran out of the store after selecting the item, and the alarm went off. The employee and her 33-year-old manager went outside and asked Goldsmith to return the product but she refused, according to the report.

Police were told by the store employees that Goldsmith got into a 37-year-old man’s car, but ran from the parking lot when he refused to drive off with her. Goldsmith dropped the stolen product as she left the store parking lot.

The man told police Goldsmith had asked him for a ride home, but wanted to stop at Walgreens on the way, so he took her there and waited in the car. He said when he realized she had stolen an item, he ordered her out of his car, police said.
