Shoplifters flee Myrtle Beach Wal-Mart, no arrests made

A Wal-Mart employee reported to Myrtle Beach police that three shoplifters fled the store after stealing 12 portable gaming systems and a knapsack, according to a police report.

Officers were called about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday to the Wal-Mart at 541 Seaboard St. where a loss prevention associate reported the incident, police said.

The loss prevention associate told police two men and one woman entered the store separately then all met in the electronics department.

One of the men used a Swiss Gear knapsack, taken from the camping section, and filled it with 12 Nintendo brand 3DS portable gaming systems, police said.

It was unclear how the shoplifters unlocked the display case. The gaming systems were valued at $200 each before sales tax.

Two of the shoplifters left the store, while the other shoplifter left through an emergency fire exit, according to authorities.

Police said surveillance footage showed the shoplifter get into a black, Ford Crown Victoria.

The loss prevention associate told police the same shoplifters were seen taking 10 of the same gaming systems from a North Myrtle Beach Wal-Mart earlier that afternoon.

Police had made no arrests as of 11 a.m. Wednesday.
