Man charged with firing shots into air at party

An 18-year-ol Myrtle Beach man was arrested with aggravated assualt Thursday after firing several gunshots near a residence, police say.

Myrtle Beach Police charged Amontre Hakeem Ellerbe with assualt after an officer heard gunshots near Alder Street and 5th Avenue N. around 2 a.m., according to a police report.

The officer responded to the scene and the homeowner, who hosted a party earlier in the evening, said someone fired gunshots at the home. No bullet holes were found in the home or surrounding cars and there were no injuries, police said.

Five 9mm shell casings were found and police said the shots appeared to have been ejected into the air, according to police.

Ellerbe will attend a bond hearing before a Circuit Court Judge because he was out on bond at the time of his arrest, said Lt. Joey Crosby with Myrtle Beach Police. He is being held at Myrtle Beach Jail.
