Myrtle Beach man charged with car burglary, DUI

A Myrtle Beach man’s computer was stolen from his car, but was later found in the car of a man who was arrested on a driving under the influence charge, according to police reports.

A 30-year-old man parked his car at 1 a.m. Monday in the 500 block of Broadway Street and noticed it had been broken into and his laptop was gone when he returned about 3 a.m., police said.

Michael Rodriguez Reeves, 29, whose hometown was not listed, was charged in connection to the car burglary when he was stopped on suspicion of driving while under the influence, according to authorities.

Police stopped Reeves at 2:33 a.m. Monday in a parking garage at 403 19th Ave. N., according to the report. Officers noticed the man had a black eye and bloody mouth and asked if he wanted medical attention, but he declined. Reeves failed a field sobriety test, and was arrested and taken to the Myrtle Beach Jail, according to a police report.

Police searched Reeves’ car and found a laptop computer, which police said was reported stolen earlier, according to a police report. In addition to a DUI, Reeves has been charged with two counts of breaking into a motor vehicle and possession of burglary tools.
