Myrtle Beach police investigate theft of car later found following crash
A car that was reported stolen at Street Reach mission in Myrtle Beach turned up abandoned in an accident in the North Myrtle Beach area, police said.
A 55-year-old man called police about 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday and reported his car stolen, according to a police report.
The man said he arrived at Street Reach, located at 1005 Osceola St., about 8:30 p.m. and accidentally left his keys in the ignition, according to the police report. After realizing he left his keys in the car, the man went outside and noticed that his 2006 Ford Freestyle was gone.
Police were later contacted by dispatchers that a car matching the stolen car’s description was involved in an crash in the North Myrtle Beach area.
The driver was fled the scene of the crash, according to the police report. The owner of the car was contacted to pick up it up at Coastal Towing in North Myrtle Beach.
No arrests had been made as of 10 a.m. Wednesday.
