Man charged after teen reportedly robbed of car outside Myrtle Beach store
A 40-year-old Myrtle Beach man is facing multiple charges, including armed robbery and grand larceny, in connection with an incident involving a teen who was reportedly robbed of his vehicle outside a Myrtle Beach store.
Daniel Buck Seward, 40, is charged with armed robbery, grand larceny, possession of cocaine and controlled substance, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and violating an ordinance on sleeping in a vehicle at night, according to Myrtle Beach Jail records.
The robbery and larceny charges stem from an incident on the night of July 2 outside a South Kings Highway Dollar General, according to a police report.
A 19-year-old male victim told police he was approached by the suspect while he was getting into his car, which he parked on the side of the Dollar General, police said.
The victim said the suspect came up behind him, flashed a box cutter, and asked for the victim’s car keys, which the victim said he gave him, according to the report.
The victim told police the suspect then asked for his cellphone, which he also turned over, police said. The suspect then took off in the victim’s 2010 Chevrolet Malibu, the report states.
The victim went inside the store and called 911. Police said they checked store cameras for footage of the incident, but the store didn’t have cameras on the side of the building the alleged robbery happened, the report says.
Seward was arrested Friday afternoon on the 3700 block of Oleander Drive in Myrtle Beach, according to jail records.
He is being held at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center on $23,101, records show.
