McDonald’s employees found in freezer after armed robbery

Three employees at a Loris McDonald’s told police they had just closed the restaurant at 2 a.m. Monday and walked outside when they were confronted by two armed men wearing masks.

Horry County police found the employees in a freezer inside the 596 U.S. 701 N. store when officers were called to the scene around 4:30 a.m.

The employees told police that two black males, wearing masks and armed with handguns, ordered them back inside the store and placed them in the freezer. All three victims stated they did not want to open the freezer door and decided to stay inside until help arrived, according to an incident report.

Two of the employees were transported to the hospital by EMS, according to the report. Money was found missing from the store’s safe.

Horry County police continue to investigate the incident.
