Conway couple arrested after lifeless man found on mattress

A Conway couple was arrested Monday night after police found them sitting on a couch near a man who was sprawled lifeless on a mattress in a home stained with blood.

Officers with the Horry County Police Department responded to a call of a fight in-progress at the home at 1272 S.C. Highway 548 about 9:50 p.m.

Officers observed a substantial amount of blood throughout the residence, a victim on the mattress and a man and woman on the couch, according to a heavily-redacted police report.

The victim was identified as 56-year-old Roy Davis of Conway. Davis died of blunt force trauma, according to Horry County Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler.

“The preliminary investigation revealed that the couple caused the death of the victim,” HCPD Lt. Raul Denis said. “The couple, a 49-year-old female and a 52-year-old male, were arrested and are presently awaiting charges at the Horry County Detention Center.”

Their names will be released once the two are formally charged.

The case is still under investigation.
