Gun-toting boss breaks in, threatens employee, police say

A 56-year-old man told police his boss kicked in the door to his home, held a gun to his head, accused him of stealing and threatened his life before firing a round of bullets into the ceiling and leaving.

Nathan Kendell Bell, 34, of Loris is charged with burglary and aggravated assault in connection with the incident, records show.

Horry County police were called about 11:30 p.m. Monday to a home on S. Green Sea Road and met with the victim who was taken to the hospital after giving his statement because he told officers he was experiencing chest pain after the incident, authorities said.

The victim told police he was accused by a gunman, who he identified as his boss, of stealing items from a farm, according to the report.

The victim was asleep at his home when the suspect came into his house, and police noted there were footprints on the victim’s door where it appeared the suspect kicked it in to enter, police said.

The victim told authorities the suspect repeatedly threatened to kill him during the incident and held the gun to his head and stated “I will kill you, you stupid [redacted],” according to the report.

The victim reported the suspect then fired a round of bullets into the ceiling and left. Police said they discovered what appeared to be fresh bullet holes in the ceiling.

The victim said he’s worked with the suspect for five years and knew it was him, the report states. Police questioned Bell, placed him under arrest, and took him to J. Reuben Long Detention Center.

Bell was released hours after his arrest on $35,000 bond, records show.
