Man hits dog, woman throws cup, police restore peace

A woman told police she got into an argument with her neighbor after he struck her dog Monday night at the Whitesands Motel.

Myrtle Beach police responded to 708 N. Kings Hwy. at 8:41 p.m. in reference to a disturbance. Officers spoke to a woman, who said she was feeding her dogs outside when a neighbor picked up one of the dogs and hit the canine.

She told police she started to yell at the man and followed him to a car where he pulled a gun on her and told her she would die. A man came out of the car and told the offender to get into the car to get him away from the situation, according to an incident report. The two were getting ready to leave when the woman threw a cup at the car.

A witness told police the argument started when the man struck the dog and he did recall hearing the man say “he was going to put a cap in her,” but he “never saw a gun,” according to the report.

Police said they spoke to the suspect, who said he was “play fighting” with the dog and that the woman put her finger in his face. He said they argued back and forth, but he didn’t point a gun and doesn’t own a gun.

No charges have been filed in the case.
