Man charged following stabbings during drug deal gone bad at Ocean Boulevard hotel
A Myrtle Beach man was arrested Monday in connection with two stabbings that happened after a fight erupted during a potential drug deal at an Ocean Boulevard hotel last month.
Thomas Hill, 33, is charged with two counts of attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and disorderly conduct, according to Myrtle Beach Jail records.
Officers were first called about 2:30 a.m. to the Virginian Motel at 1810 South Ocean Boulevard in reference to an assault, according to a Myrtle Beach police report.
When authorities arrived, they found a 42-year-old man lying on the ground with a stab wound in his upper lip and lower abdomen. The victim told police he went to the motel to purchase drugs with the suspect who stabbed him, police said.
The victim said he was stabbed because he didn’t have enough money, the report states.
A witness at the scene told police he heard a loud noise then saw the 42-year-old victim running around the hotel with blood all over his face and body, so the witness ran to the hotel office and called police, the report states.
An investigation revealed three people were amid a potential drug deal when a fight broke out. The dispute escalated, and Hill, armed with a knife, stabbed both a 42-year-old and 22-year-old man, according to Myrtle Beach police arrest warrants.
The stabbings weren’t captured on hotel surveillance cameras, but police noted the bloody, 42-year-old victim could be seen running around the hotel in the available footage.
The victims were taken to Grand Strand Medical Center for treatment of life-threatening injuries, police said.
Crime scene investigators responded to the stabbing, and a short time later Myrtle Beach police were called about another stabbing incident at the Summer Sands Hotel on the 1400 block of South Ocean Boulevard. Police later linked the incidents and stated that it was part of this same incident at the Virginian Motel.
Hill is being held at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center, and his bond has not been set.
