Teen’s life threatened during armed robbery in Myrtle Beach

A 19-year-old girl walking from a student learning center in Myrtle Beach was robbed at knifepoint by a man who threatened to kill her if she didn’t give him her bag.

Myrtle Beach police were called about 2 p.m. Monday to the area of Robert Grissom Parkway and Mr. Joe White Avenue, according to an incident report.

The victim told police she was walking from the student learning center on Mr. Joe White Avenue when she was approached by a man, who followed behind her and asked if she knew where she was going, authorities said.

The victim said she started to walk faster and turned down a different street, but the suspect followed her, pulled out a knife and told her he’d kill her if she didn’t give him her bag, according to the report.

He then pointed the knife at her and made a stabbing motion, she said. The victim gave him her bag, which contained $40, an e-reader device, camera valued at $700, her wallet and personal paperwork, police said.

The suspect took off on a bicycle headed eastbound on Mohawk Street, authorities said.

Police obtained a photo of the suspect using city surveillance cameras.
