A seventh grade social studies teacher at Ocean Bay Middle School has been charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor after a woman told police they had sex when she was a teen and he was her coach 20 years ago.
Bryan Jay Meyers, 55, was arrested Wednesday.
The woman, who lives in California, told police she was sexually assaulted in the Myrtle Beach area of Horry County during a week-long trip in the summer of 1995, when she was 16 and her coach was 35. She said it happened again during a week-long trip in the summer of 1996, when she was 17 and Meyers was 36.
The victim outlined a sexual relationship with Meyers that she said started in Pennsylvania with more sexual acts taking place in Myrtle Beach during those two weeks, according to an Horry County Police Department incident report.
