Murder-suicide suspected in Loris shooting
A preliminary police investigation says that a Loris man shot and killed his wife before turning the gun on himself earlier this week, the apparent result of an ongoing domestic violence situation, according to Horry County Police.
The name of the 36-year-old suspect and 34-year-old victim have not been released by police, although the family has been notified of the apparent crime discovered Monday night at a home on Hulls Island Road, said Lt. Mark Bonner with Horry County Police. A relative found the couple and called police, Bonner said.
“Interviews of family members discovered that a recent history of domestic abuse had been occurring between them; however, it had gone unreported to police,” Bonner said in a statement.
“Horry County Police would like to reinforce the necessity to report domestic violence whenever it is seen or suspected,” Bonner said.
