Conway gunshot victim dies from injuries

A Conway man, who was shot Sunday night at a Conway home, died from his gunshot wounds Tuesday.

Jahalil Raheem Rashad Drayton, 21, was pronounced dead at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, according to Michelle McSpadden, Horry County deputy coroner.

Conway police responded to a home at 1520 Fifth Avenue about 11:24 p.m. Sunday in reference to a male gunshot victim, police said.

According to an incident report, Drayton was found lying on the floor of a back room with what appeared to be a gunshot wound. Drayton was breathing, but was unresponsive as medics loaded him into an ambulance and rushed him to the hospital.

The shooting is under investigation, and anyone with information can contact the Conway Police Department at 843-248-1790.
