A 55-year-old Conway man was arrested Tuesday in connection with 20 charges of child sex crimes.

David Wynn Compton is charged with 20 counts of sexual exploitation of minors, with 10 of those charges being second-degree and the other 10 charges being third-degree, according to J. Reuben Long Detention records.

A member of the Internet Crimes Against Children task force with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division made the arrest, and Horry County police assisted in the arrest, according to a press release.

Compton was involved in sending child pornography via file sharing, investigators said, and computer-related items were seized for forensic examination.

All the charges Compton faces are felony offenses punishable by up to 10 years in prison, authorities said.

South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson will be prosecuting the case.
