Five men have been charged following a chase with Marion police on Monday that ended in a wreck and manhunt on the US 501, according to Marion police.

Wilbert Jemaude McClean, Jr. of Cheraw is charged with unlawful carrying of a pistol, failure to stop for blue light, possession of a stolen vehicle, no South Carolina driver's license in possession, and speeding, according to Marion Police Chief Dewayne Tennie.

D'shiem Tymaude McClean, Jaquel Dominique Mitchell, Diante Shamar Yasheem Adams, and Akeem Travon McCollum, all of Bennettsville, have been charged with unlawful carrying of a pistol, Tennie said.

Tennie said an officer tried to pull over the driver of the car, Wilbert McClean, for a speeding violation, but he kept going and a chase ensued.

He said the officer feared for the safety of other motorists on the road after the driver reached speeds of more than 100 miles per hour. So, he called the chase off, but alerted dispatchers to inform Highway Patrol that the driver could be headed toward Horry County.
