Police investigating after man found shot to death in Socastee home
Horry County police found a 36-year-old man shot to death at a Socastee home late Sunday night.
Tyrice Smalls of Myrtle Beach was found at a home on Gwen Drive off Socastee Boulevard, and an autopsy performed late Monday afternoon showed he died of multiple gunshot wounds, according to Michelle McSpadden, Horry County deputy coroner.
Horry County police were called about 11:15 p.m. Easter Sunday to the Socastee home in reference to shooting, authorities said.
When police arrived, they found two men and a woman there and discovered Smalls lying on his back in one of the bedrooms, and he appeared to have been shot, according to a police report.
EMS was called to the scene, and a medic entered to see if the victim had a pulse. The three people, who police said were in the home when the shooting happened, were taken outside and placed in separate patrol cars after police got their information, the report states.
Police roped off the crime scene and turned it over to officers with Horry County Criminal Investigations, authorities said.
The investigation is ongoing.
