Arrest made in connection to man with gun at Coastal Grand Mall
A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an incident earlier this week at the Coastal Grand Mall.
Ajay Malikk Alston, 21, has been arrested and charged with unlawful carrying of pistol; and pointing and presenting firearms at a person, according to Myrtle Beach police.
The charges against Alston come after police were told that a person involved in an accident on Harrelson Boulevard, near the Coastal Grand Mall, possibly had a gun and had run into the mall on Wednesday night, according to Joey Crosby with Myrtle Beach police.
The officers then responded to the mall in an effort to try and locate that person.
According to a police report, several people told police that a man with a gun was inside the mall headed toward the center.
Several officers went inside the mall near Bed Bath and Beyond to search for the suspect and clear the mall, according to the report.
Police were told to search the bathrooms and found a suspect's red hoodie in a trashcan.
