North Carolina woman charged with drunk driving with toddler in car, urinates in patrol car
A 27-year-old North Carolina woman was arrested in connection with multiple charges after police said she drove drunk with her 3-year-old daughter in the backseat, acted violently toward police during her arrest, then urinated in a patrol car.
Lauren Marie Warf of Southport, N.C., is charged with driving under the influence, driving under suspension, vehicle required to be registered and licensed, resisting arrest; oppose, resist, or assault law enforcement officer serving process, and child endangerment, according to J. Reuben Long Detention Center records.
About 11:50 p.m. Friday, North Myrtle Beach police were called to the Wango Tango on U.S. 17 in reference to a highly intoxicated woman driving into the parking lot and nearly hitting a parked car, according to a police report.
Police spoke with a security officer when they arrived, and he told authorities Warf had been driving erratically and almost hit a parked car before coming to a stop, the report states.
Authorities noticed a toddler in the backseat of Warf’s car and said there was a strong smell of alcohol emitting from the 2010 Dodge Avenger with expired North Carolina plates.
Warf was unable to answer simple questions or form complete sentences, according to the report.
Warf then began screaming unintelligibly and attempted to get out of her car violently until an officer presented his taser, police said.
Authorities asked her to exit her car, she refused and became argumentative. Police then removed her from the car while she physically resisted, and she was then brought to the ground and handcuffed, police said.
She was placed in a patrol car and attempted to kick and pull away from the arresting officer as he escorted her to the patrol car’s backseat.
Police put her seatbelt on and she started kicking and head-butting the patrol car doors. She wouldn’t provide any information about the child with her other than the girl is her 3-year-old daughter, according to the report.
A Department of Social Services agent responded to the scene and took custody of the child, police said.
Warf was taken to J. Reuben Long Detention Center and continued to scream violently and make threats toward police. She also appeared to be hallucinating when she looked at the empty seat beside her and began speaking to multiple people who were not there, according to the report.
She also removed her seatbelt and pants and urinated on the patrol car floor and backseat, police said.
Her feet were bloody from kicking the patrol car door and she was wet with her own urine when officers arrived at the jail with her, authorities said.
She was released Sunday morning on $3,385.50 bond, jail records show.
